thomas hannich lives and works on both sides of the atlantic – in hamburg, germany, and in new york city. after studying photography, hannich began to develop his personal view of things from 1998, when he started working as a freelance photographer. his still life photography relies on the overdrawing and heightening of textile qualities and surfaces, which lends the objects he photographs an aura of exceptional desirability. the somewhat desaturated colour quality of his landscapes, on the other hand, plays with the pang of longing that one may get from a faded picture postcard. lufthansa and coca-cola and magazines like wallpaper are among thomas hannich's customers.
